yes, you are right. the files zipped up are .shn files.

If you are unfamiliar with .shn files, Diana Hamilton, an admin here and at db.etree.org (also a great site to poke around in) wrote up a great SHN FAQ:

I am sure there are other players, but the one most use is Winamp (www.winamp.com) I personally like their older version 2 compared to the new version 3, but get whatever you'd like, for free, and then go here:

http://www.etree.org/shnamp.html

and download the plug-in that coresponds to the winamp version you have. SHNamp is a plug-in that allows winamp to play .shn files.

that's all you need! If the seeder did not append the seek tables, you won't get to fast forward / rewind during playback of an .shn file. it is frustrating, but starting with mkwACT 0.97 there was an option to append seek tables, so they are actually inside the files, making fast forwarding easier.
